Myofunctional Therapy

Your tongue’s resting position can impact everything from chewing and swallowing to the way you look, speak and breath.  Fortunately, you can correct an abnormal tongue position with myofunctional therapy. 

Myofunctional Therapy is a physical therapy program used to correct the improper function of the tongue and oral-facial muscles.  It involves strengthening and training these muscles to their appropriate position.
 
An oral functional disorder occurs when an abnormal lip, jaw, or tongue position interferes with your orofacial structures’ development and function.   This can negatively impact breastfeeding, chewing, swallowing, talking, breathing, and how your face looks.  Common causes are:
